Katlyn’s Awkward Guest Blog Post

Katlyn Rose Webb

It is a great pleasure to host my friend and editor, Katlyn Rose Webb today. I met this wonderful lady when I started writing a few years ago, and she was one of the first people to Beta read CALL OF THE BLUE JAY, the first of my epic fantasy series being released in 2020. She loved it it so much that she wanted me to get it out immediately.

Since those early days she has become my editor as well as a trusted friend on whose shoulder I can cry. At times she kicks my butt, and other times she pats me on the head like a proud mother does to a wayward child.

Welcome to my blog, Katlyn, and thank you for all you have done.

Katlyn’s Awkward Guest Blog Post

Ok Katlyn, you can do this: Guest blog post… Start… Now! Ah, but I’m scared! I critique other’s works for a living; I never write my own! But this should be easier, right? Nonfiction? Or is the opposite true?! Ah, I don’t know! Ok then, write what you do know: outlines and lists!

  • Topic: What reading means to me

  • Introduction: Hi everyone! My name is Katlyn Webb, nice to make your acquaintance! I am the owner and editor of Ambition Editing LLC. Please excuse my nervous self-talk up there; I am more comfortable and skilled at reading than writing, but here it goes:

  • Body: For me reading is not just a hobby, it is my passion that I have turned into my career. I was never much one for TV, movie, or video games; instead, I could always be found sitting for hours with my nose in a book. That is even true until this day, all day, every day. When I am not reading for work, I am reading for pleasure.

I owe my love for reading to many people: My third-grade teacher for making Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone required reading, every author ever for being brave enough to put their work out there for the enjoyment of others, and most importantly, my parents for introducing me to reading at a very early age and continuing to nurture my budding interest until my eventual growth into my dream career. How did they do this, you ask? I will tell you:

They began by reading to me constantly. In fact, I still have those same books they read to me as a child today on my bookshelf next to my bed! They also had the philosophy: You can never spoil a kid with books.

  • Conclusion: I would not be where I am, or the person I am, without books and my love for reading. I cannot recommend it more if I tried! What? You say you don’t like reading? I don’t believe you! I have the answer to that problem: You just haven’t found the right genre! There is something for everyone!

  • Conclusion part II: I want to especially end by thanking Rita for the honor of being a guest on your blog! It is a wonderful opportunity and, although a little anxiety producing, it was quite fun! I enjoy working with you so much! You are not only one of my favorite/best people to work with, you are also a very dear friend and I love you!
